The Royal Mews, Buckingham Palace
Student Ticket Prices
The Royal Mews is a unique part of Britain's heritage. Built in the gardens of Buckingham Palace in the early 19th century, it remains home to the horse-drawn carriages and motor cars that transport the Royal Family to this day. The Mews is also one of the finest working stables still in existence, and is responsible for the training of the Windsor Greys and Cleveland Bays, the horses that pull the royal carriages, some of which can be seen during a visit.
State vehicles are housed and maintained at the Royal Mews, and include the carriages used for occasions such as State Visits and royal weddings. Among the historic coaches and carriages on display are the spectacular Diamond Jubilee State Coach, which was first used to convey Her Majesty The Queen to the State Opening of Parliament in 2014, and the Australian State Coach, which was given to Her Majesty as a gift from the Australian people, and even includes central heating! The most dazzling of all is the Gold State Coach, which has been used at every coronation since that of George IV in 1821.
